What Is the GR Program at Berry Family Services?
At Berry Family Services, our General Revenue (GR) Program supports adults and children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) who live in Dallas County. Through GR funding — state-appropriated funds provided by the Texas Health & Human Services Commission — we are able to deliver essential, community-based services regardless of whether a person has Medicaid.
The GR Program helps individuals remain in their homes (or family homes) by offering vital supports such as respite care and community support services.
Who Is Eligible for Berry’s GR Program?
- Dallas County Residents: The program is available specifically for individuals in Dallas County who are registered with Berry Family Services.
- IDD Diagnosis: Participants must have an intellectual or developmental disability, as defined by Texas IDD eligibility guidelines.
- Medicaid & Non-Medicaid: The program serves both people with Medicaid and those without, offering flexibility for families who need help but may not qualify for other waiver programs.
Core Services Offered Through the GR Program
Berry Family Services leverages GR funds to provide a robust set of supports tailored to individuals with IDD. Key services include:
- In-home Respite (Respite Care)
This gives primary caregivers relief by having trained staff come into the home to care for the individual, helping maintain the family unit and preventing caregiver burnout. - Day Habilitation & Community Support
Through GR funds, Berry offers community-based activities that support daily living skills, socialization, and community inclusion
